How we’re working to keep you safe from COVID-19 at West Plaza Hotel under the COVID-19 Protection Framework

At The West Plaza Hotel, we want to give every guest that visits the peace of mind to know their health and wellbeing is our very top priority.

Wellington is currently at the Orange Traffic Light Setting along with the rest of the country.
(Hotel procedures for each setting can be found below)

At Orange, West Plaza Hotel is able to operate with no restrictions in place and no limits on the number of guests.  We will continue to maintain enhanced cleaning and if hotel staff are sick or have symptoms of COVID, they are advised to stay home.

We encourage guests to wear a face mask in communal areas of the hotel.

COVID PROTECTION FRAMEWORK - THE TRAFFIC LIGHT SYSTEM:

Green

When there are some COVID-19 cases in the community, and sporadic imported cases.
At Green, West Plaza Hotel is able to operate with no restrictions in place and no limits on the number of guests. We will continue to maintain enhanced cleaning and if hotel staff are sick or have symptoms of COVID, they are advised to stay home.

Orange

Where there is increasing community transmission putting pressure on our NZ health system:

  • At Orange you must wear a face covering in retail outlets, public facilities and on public transport.
    We strongly encourage you wear a face covering when in communal areas of the hotel such as the foyer and corridors.

At Orange, West Plaza Hotel is able to operate with no restrictions in place and no limits on the number of guests.  We will continue to maintain enhanced cleaning and if hotel staff are sick or have symptoms of COVID, they are advised to stay home.

Red

Action will need to be taken to protect both at-risk people and protect our health system from an unsustainable number of hospitalisations.

  • Record keeping and scanning will be required.
  • Face coverings are mandatory in public spaces.

At Red, West Plaza Hotel is able to operate with some restrictions.

We are allowed to accommodate guests at red and there are no capacity limits.
Limits to service during this time would however be applicable – such as no buffet breakfasts and servicing of rooms.

At Red, hotel employees are required to wear protective face masks throughout the hotel. We would encourage guests to wear face masks when in the communal spaces of the hotel, but not when enjoying our food & beverage facilities. 

City Dining & Bar would adhere to the Government’s required two ‘S’s’ at red – customers need to be seated and separated by one metre, and all other guidelines for food & beverage in the red setting, such as the 100 person limit. 

Our employees would be required to stay one metre apart from each other where practicable.

Different groups must be kept and stay one metre apart, throughout all communal areas, lifts and stairs.

The number of guests are limited during food & beverage service so that physical distancing can be maintained.
