Our cancellation policy

If your booking is cancelled by 6:00pm one day prior to arrival at the hotel, no charges will incur. If your booking is not cancelled one day prior to the commencement of your stay, we do reserve the right to charge for the equivalent of one night's accommodation.

If we have received your booking from a third party booking source, contact the company with which you made the booking to discuss the terms of your booking, cancellation and/or refund.

Payment of accounts

You provide a credit card number as a guarantee for the booking you have made. No payment is charged to that credit card unless requested by you at the time of booking.

If a credit card is not available, a 50 percent deposit of your entire stay may be required to be sent to the hotel in advance to secure your booking, with the balance being paid on arrival at the West Plaza Hotel.

We may require an additional bond payment of up to $200.00 to cover any miscellaneous charges. This amount will be refunded in full on your departure if hotel services were not used.

Please note that for all credit card transactions, a surcharge of 2% applies. Guests may choose to change their method of payment on check-out  to cash or Eftpos as these methods do not attract this fee.

Car parking

Car parking for guests is available at the West Plaza Hotel at NZ $25.00 per night. Car parks are limited and cannot be reserved at the time your booking is made.

The West Plaza Hotel is a completely non-smoking hotel. If required there is a designated outdoor smoking area

Environmental and social sustainability

Since December 2006, the West Plaza Hotel has made a commitment to contribute to the ideal of a clean and green New Zealand. Accordingly, we have established an environmental committee that meets monthly. We have recently received our Qualmark Bronze Enivro award. It is our responsibility to the community to retain this benchmark and ensure our ongoing commitment to achieve a higher standard in environmental and social sustainability.

Our environmental awareness action plan addresses the following key performance indicators:

  • to encourage and measure the progress of the hotel in obtaining the relevant Qualmark key performance areas such as waste minimisation, reuse and recycling along with energy efficiency including water, gas and electricity
  • to review current suppliers, with evaluation of their products, services and business environmental policy to match our own or willingness to compromise with a friendly environmental policy similar to our own
  • responsible use of hazardous substances complying with our health and safety policy and safe storage of these chemicals
  • encouragement of walking and use of public transport by all staff during all aspects of their lives, including to and from work.

The West Plaza Hotel displays our environmental policy with other key policies in the hotel, and the environmental action plan is available on request to any interested parties.

The West Plaza Hotel wishes to illustrate its responsibility as a good employer by showing its commitment to and complying with environmental, public and occupational health and safety, hygiene and employment legislation.
